How it works
| Briefcase can be setup to suit a variety of environments. From a single user to a multi site office with hundreds of users. What's more, Briefcase Pro can be accessed remotely from any location with internet access. And, because it is Mac and Windows friendly you can share data with everyone. |

Briefcase Pro Network
The diagram below is the recommended setup for a multi-person studio. Each client computer connects to a central server, a client can be located on your local network or can be offsite and access the database via the internet. Each client requires a license of FileMaker Pro (which is included with your Briefcase license). The server requires a license also but this license is for FileMaker Server which you can purchase as part of your setup.

Briefcase Pro Peer-to-Peer
If you don't have a server or you dont need many users, you can share your database with 'peer-to-peer' sharing. This setup still requires each user to have a license for FileMaker Pro (which is included with your Briefcase license). Peer-to-Peer sharing is limited to 9 users and requires the host (the computer where the database resides) is always kept on so others can access the data. This is a great way to start sharing your database but a server setup is highly recommed for 4 or more users.
Briefcase Pro Single User
If you work alone a single user license of Briefcase Pro gives you full functionality and expandability of your database. You can add additional users over time and eventualy network with a server.
Briefcase Single User
The standard version of Briefcase does not require FileMaker. Your database sits on your computer and is limited to single user access.
