Does Briefcase Pro come with FileMaker Pro?

Yes, Briefcase Pro includes FileMaker, this version is sold as a software bundle.

Do I have to buy a separate copy of FileMaker Pro for each person in my office?

Yes. FileMaker Pro is network copy protected. You are required to enter an installation code when you install FileMaker Pro. If you try to open more than one copy with the same code on your LAN or WAN at the same time, you will see a message and FileMaker Pro will quit on the computer with the duplicate code.

Do I need a network license?

It depends on the number of Briefcase users you will need. If you require more than 9 concurrent users, then you will need additional server software.
A FileMaker Server license will allow everyone in the studio to connect to Briefcase and use it at the same time.
FileMaker Server is fast, easy and reliable server software that lets you securely share your databases over a network or on the web.

How does a network license work?

Simply install FileMaker Server on a dedicated computer and upload your FileMaker Pro solutions to the server. Installation and configuration takes just 20 minutes or less. You'll be able to securely manage your databases from anywhere, schedule live backups and get 24/7 availability.

What are the benefits of a network license?

A network license allows up to 250 simultaneous users, expanded availability, enhanced security and increased performance.
Although compulsory for 9+ users, we strongly recommend a network license for 5 or more users.
