What is a Job Bag?
In Briefcase, a Job Bag is like a container that holds all the information relating to a single job for a client. A Job Bag can include multiple quotes, purchases, estimates, invoices, timesheets and materials, and details all relating to the one Job (eg. Corporate Brochure).


How do I create a new Job Bag?
Click the New button in the Job Bags Window.  When creating a job record, you must assign the job to a company.  Select an existing company from the drop down list in the Company field under Client.  This action will input a Job Number in the Job field and the Client details. How do I view the total cost, total sale and overall margin in a job?
The fields located in the grey footer at the bottom of the screen will show the total monetary amounts for each column.


How do I add a job prefix to job numbering?
If you choose to number your jobs with a prefix as well as numbers (eg. ABC123), go to the Company record in Detail View. Under Job Settings enter a unique character prefix to identify the client in the Job Prefix field.


How do I change the status of a Job?
In the Job Bags Window in Detail View select an option from the drop down list in the Status field (eg. Live).


How do I create a WIP List?
The WIP report draws from the information you enter in the Job record. You can assign tasks to individuals and add stages to include in the WIP report. Click the Print button and select the Work in Progress report from the pull down menu.


How do I create tasks that can later be used as time entries?
In the relevant Job Bag, go to the Task Schedule in the Scope Tab. The tasks you enter here will appear in the Time/Materials Window.  People can then see what tasks they have been assigned and they can enter time against each task.

Note: tasks will also appear in the Task Schedule upon approval of estimate items.


How do I keep track of the time and cost of a job?
The Summary Tab in the Job Bags Window allows you to keep track of jobs.  It displays a numeric summary of each part, drawing upon information entered in your approved estimates. purchases, time and invoices. How do I print a job label?
Go to the job bag and click the Print button. Select Job Sticker from the pull down menu.


How do I remove/check off tasks once they are complete?
Clicking the status icon at the end of a row will mark the item as complete.


How do I view a WIP List for a particular client?
Click the Find button in the Job Bags Window. Type the client name in the blank Client field. Select the job status in the Status field (eg. Live) and Press Enter. Why can’t I see assigned tasks in the Time/Materials Window that I entered in the Task Schedule of the Job Bag?
You must be logged in as the person, to whom the tasks were assigned, in order to see tasks in the Time/Materials Window. Only the user who has been assigned the task will be able to add time against the tasks in the Time/Materials Window.
